The Detroit Lions are on the verge of making their first playoff appearance since 2016. A division title, the franchise’s first in the NFC North, is also well within reach.

It’s sparked a discussion that Lions fans aren’t used to hearing. Should Detroit rest some key players in the final two weeks of the season to save them for the playoffs?

During his press conference on Monday, Dan Campbell was asked this exact question. Campbell, who has previously coached in the postseason on Sean Payton’s staff in New Orleans, provided a great, noncommittal response.

“Yeah, they’ll rest when we’re done with the season.” “I guarantee it,” Campbell said. They’ll have plenty of time off.”

It’s not a “yes,” but it also doesn’t rule out the possibility of Campbell reducing playing time for some players who may be injured, or giving more in-game reps to younger reserves.
