DEAL: Fans express to as £55m striker stuns two PL clubs to join Newcastle as deal

Newcastle United may look to bring in a new forward during the January transfer window.

While FFP restrictions will likely make signing players difficult, Newcastle are thought to be considering strengthening their attack in the New Year sales.

Nonetheless, the club is in an intriguing position on that front.

Both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are capable forwards on their day, so big money may not be required at this stage.

The problem is that both players have had injury issues over the last two seasons.

Interestingly, a striker previously linked to Newcastle is now said to be open to a move to the Premier League.

Benjamin Sesko: The most recent news on Newcastle’s transfer target

According to 90 Min, RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko is interested in moving to England.

The 20-year-old moved to Germany from sister club RB Salzburg last summer and is said to be back on Newcastle’s radar, despite previous links.

The Slovenia international is said to be interested in moving to the Premier League after struggling for playing time in the Bundesliga after a reported £55 million move.

Benjamin Sesko to Newcastle: What are the chances of a January transfer?

With FFP restrictions still in place, Newcastle spending such a large sum on a single player in January appears unlikely.

However, the report includes an intriguing line about the type of deal Leipzig might be willing to make.

It is claimed that a loan deal with an obligation to buy has been discussed, which could allow Newcastle to enter the race.

At only 20, he certainly fits the kind of mould PIF have generally targeted since the takeover, albeit there is said to be rival interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
