The Tigers have lost a backup running back to the transfer portal.

Brian Battie, a reserve running back for Auburn football, has entered the transfer portal, per multiple reports. Battie spent one season on the Plains before entering the portal.

Prior to his arrival at Auburn, Battie spent three seasons with the South Florida Bulls. He rushed for 1,841 yards  over the course of 32 games with the USF (6.6 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. Battie also caught 25 receptions for 193 yards.

The most notable aspect of Battie’s game came through special teams. Battie was a consensus All American in 2021 as a kick returner. He returned 59 kicks for 1,427 yards and three touchdowns over the course of his USF career.

During his time with the Tigers, Battie rushed for 227 yards, one touchdown and returned 28 kicks for 645 yards.

Auburn expects to still have a loaded backfield in 2024. If starting running back Jarquez Hunter declares for the NFL Draft the Tigers still have Damari Alston and Jeremiah Cobb as a strong one-two punch.The Tigers have lost 13 players to the transfer portal, including four wide receivers (Omari Kelly, Malcolm Johnson Jr, Jyaire Shorter, Ja’Varrius Johnson), four defensive linemen (Wilky Denaud, Enyce Sledge, Stephen Johnson, Stephen Sings), two safeties (Austin Ausberry, Marquise Gilbert), one tight end (Tyler Fromm), one quarterback (Robby Ashford), and now Battie.
