2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre is the Tennessee Vols’ top current recruiting target.

MacIntyre, 6-foot-5/182 lbs from Brentwood, TN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 9 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

The highly coveted recruit is expected to choose between Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee in the coming weeks, though a final decision date hasn’t been announced yet.

MacIntyre recently spoke to On3’s Chad Simmons about his recruitment and one comment he made seems to bode well for the Vols’ chance of landing the talented signal-caller.

““I have always visited those three schools, but two have always stood out,” said MacIntyre. “It is a one-on-one battle between two schools and it is very tight between those two. When I pick between those two, the head coach will matter a lot. Then the family feel, fit within the system and the culture are other key factors.

Assuming the Vols are in MacIntyre’s final two (he didn’t specify which two are standing out between Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee), then the comment about the head coach, family feel, fit within the system, and culture would seemingly be a great sign for Tennessee.

The Vols can’t compete with Alabama or LSU’s winning ways or multiple national championships over the last two decades. But they can win recruits over with the head coach, the culture, and the family feel on Rocky Top. And if that’s what MacIntyre is truly basing his decision on, then you have to like Tennessee’s chances of winning this recruiting battle.
