an Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama could become the first NBA pro to earn a billion-dollar contract, and that’s without taking into account the multiple sponsorships that are sure to come with his success.
Just for playing basketball, ‘Wemby‘, the phenomenal French player drafted by the Spurs in the last draft as the first pick, signed his first contract for the next four years and just over 55 million dollars.
But in the future, there could be much better deals, especially if when on the court he shows what he can do and that sooner rather than later has given evidence of it.
A ‘golden’ prospect
The contractual limits that determine the prospect of what ‘Wemby‘ can earn, indicate that after his four years as a ‘freshman’ he could sign an extension for five years and almost 320 million dollars.
However, if the circumstances favour him and his career experiences a steady and sustained rise, coupled with achievements that are expected to be possible with the Texans, the Frenchman could have the privilege of signing for another five years and 760 million dollars, to exceed the magic number.
