The Las Vegas Raiders will look for their fifth offensive line coach in ten years.
Carmen Bricillo, the former Raiders offensive line coach, is joining the New York Giants’ staff and will continue in the same job, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Thursday.
Bricillo spent the last two seasons coaching Las Vegas’ offensive line.
Bricillo supervised an offensive line that helped protect the league’s rushing champion, running back Josh Jacobs, who racked up 1,653 yards in 2022.
Before joining the Raiders, Bricillo was the New England Patriots’ offensive line coach in 2020-21. He joins New England as a coaching assistant in 2019.Bricillo began his coaching career in high school football before joining his alma mater, Duquesne University, as the offensive line coach for the 2005 season. He was later appointed as a coaching assistant at the University of Akron, where he served from 2006 to 2008.
Bricillo subsequently moved to a Power Five conference, joining the University of Illinois as an offensive assistant in 2009. He was only there for a year before becoming the offensive line coach at Youngstown State for nine seasons.
Bricillo, Las Vegas’ offensive line coach, was well liked in the Raiders’ locker room, particularly among his offensive linemen. This season, he was able to adjust to challenges in his starting front, including injuries to team captain Kolton Miller, center Andre James, and offensive tackle Thayer Munford Jr.
Bricillo’s hire comes just days after New York sacked veteran offensive line coach Bobby Johnson.
The Giants confirmed Bricillo’s hire immediately after Fowler’s story.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be hosted in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders presently have the 13th overall pick.
