– According to ESPN, Antonio Pierce is the front-runner to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders executives have reportedly given their support to Pierce, who was promoted from linebackers coach to temporary head coach following Josh McDaniels’ firing on October 31.
Although they have not yet conducted interviews, the Raiders are reportedly interested in Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.
If Pierce is the chosen candidate, Las Vegas might want to move quickly to expedite the hiring process. According to ESPN, Pierce was scheduled to interview on Saturday for the Tennessee Titans’ open position.
After McDaniels was fired, the Raiders were 5-4, and Pierce took over as head coach. They finished 8-9 and in second place in the division after winning three of their last four games, all against AFC West opponents.
Maxx Crosby, an edge rusher, is one of the athletes who has spoken out in favor of Pierce, 45.
“When you have the right culture, a guy like A.P. that embraces the history of the Raiders, it’s special,” he stated.”… a great deal of legends on a regular basis due to their admiration for him. It therefore motivates you as a player to show off who you are. Do you understand what I mean? One day, you hope to reach that level.”
In the NFL, Pierce spent nine seasons with the Washington Redskins (2001–04) and the New York Giants (2005–09), where he was a Super Bowl winner. He worked as a coach at California’s Long Beach Poly High School from 2014 to 2017, and then he was employed by Herm Edwards at Arizona State. He moved on to the Raiders in 2022.
