The NFL Players Association announced the death of former New Orleans Saints linebacker Ronald Powell on Tuesday. He was 32.

“Today, we grieve the passing of Ronald Powell, a father, brother, and son who was loved and valued by many. The association remarked, “We send comfort to all those who knew Ronald.”

How Powell died was not revealed.

Powell was selected in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL draft from the University of Florida, as reported by Sports Illustrated. According to the sports magazine, he earned 11 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss while playing for the Florida Gators.

The crew expressed sadness upon learning of his demise.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones,” the Gators said on X.

Powell appeared in 14 games for New Orleans as a rookie, according to Sports Illustrated. After suffering a knee injury, he spent the following few years on three different teams’ practice squads before retiring from the league.
