The Texas Longhorns had a successful 2023 season, despite losing in the semifinals. After years of disappointment, the Longhorns appear to be back in the conversation among college football’s elite. They have been acquiring talent all offseason and added another offensive weapon today. Silas Bolden, a former Oregon State wide receiver, announced his commitment to Texas.

Texas Longhorns sign WR Silas Bolden, becoming the fifth player to commit through the transfer portal. He was a versatile player for Oregon State. In 2023, he caught 54 passes for 746 yards and five receiving touchdowns, along with two rushing touchdowns and a punt return for a touchdown. In three years with the Beavers, he had 80 receptions for 1,076 yards and four touchdowns. His decision comes two days after former Alabama receiver Isaiah Bolden committed to the program. Texas is assembling an elite offense.

2024 Outlook

Quinn Ewers will be throwing to all of these wide receivers. Texas has the potential to have one of the nation’s best offenses. It is a huge advantage for a program to be able to return their starter from the previous year. If the Longhorns want to win the SEC, they’ll need to be on top of their game. Winning the Big 12 is one thing; getting through the SEC conference’s ringer is another. The program will have to demonstrate that last year was not a one-hit wonder season, but rather a foreshadowing of things to come.
