A former Miami Hurricanes star was recently sentenced to four years in prison. According to Fox Sports’ Andy Slater, Mark Walton, a 2016 college standout, was recently sentenced after pleading guilty to an armed robbery in Miami.
Walton has had multiple run-ins with the law dating back to 2019. He was arrested three times during the 2019 offseason for misdemeanor marijuana possession, battery, and fleeing from police. He also faces a misdemeanor weapon charge and was arrested later that year for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. The Miami native was arrested in 2021 for attempting to break a Pizza Hut window, and again in 2022 for armed robbery.

Walton, a four-star recruit from Booker T. Washington in Miami, signed with the Hurricanes in 2015. As a true freshman, he rushed 130 times for 461 yards and nine touchdowns, while also catching 22 passes for 293 yards and another score. Walton had a breakout sophomore season, carrying 209 times for 1,117 yards and 14 touchdowns. The five-foot-nine, 205-pound back began the season with three consecutive 100-yard rushing games, scoring seven touchdowns in the process.
Walton played only five games as a junior, but he gained 519 yards and three touchdowns on 63 touches. He stood out against Toledo early in the season, rushing for 204 yards and a touchdown. Following ankle surgery, Walton missed the majority of the season.
Mark Walton’s Short NFL Stint
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Mark Walton with the 112th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he rushed 14 times for 34 yards and played 14 games. The Bengals waived Walton following his third arrest in the 2019 offseason. He signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins soon afterward. He rushed 53 times for 201 yards over seven games. His best career game came against the Buffalo Bills, which he lost. The former Hurricane rushed for a career-high 66 yards on 14 carries. Walton served multiple suspensions before being released.
