Cam McCormick announced Thursday on his X account that he is coming back for his “last ride.”
It will be his ninth season in college football. The Bend, Oregon native began his career with the Oregon Ducks in 2016. He transferred to Miami in 2023 to reunite with Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal.
McCormick has had to overcome injury adversity throughout his career. He missed most of 2018, 2019 and 2020 due to an ankle injury. He suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon injury early in 2021. Multiple medical redshirts from the NCAA have allowed him to extend his career.
He started 11 games at tight end for Miami in 2023. His primary impact came as a blocker. He hauled in 8 catches for 62 yards. He earned an excellent 78.7 run blocking grade from Pro Football Focus.
McCormick stays inside a full tight end room at Miami. Elijah Arroyo, Riley Williams and Jackson Carver return, and the Hurricanes will add true freshman Elijah Lofton.
