Michigan went through a lot of ups and downs to get to the national championship game, and many of their key players who returned this season could have gone to the NFL. They all returned with one common goal: to win the national championship. The Wolverines achieved that goal, and now they hope to build on that success in the future, with the momentum they’ve built to help them do so.

Let’s take a look at what this team went through to get where they are today. Its significance to the program’s future cannot be overstated.

First, the Wolverines’ head coach, Jim Harbaugh, began the season at home while serving a three-game self-imposed suspension for minor recruiting violations. That wasn’t a big deal, though, because Michigan began the season at home against East Carolina, UNLV, and Bowling Green. The Wolverines were fine for those games, but it wasn’t the only suspension that Harbaugh would face this season.

Around the halfway point of the season, word spread that the Michigan football team was being investigated for illegal sign stealing. The culprit turned out to be Connor Stalions, a low-level employee.
