Kirk Cousins is the “crown jewel” of the NFL’s 2024 free agent quarterback class, according to 33rd Team’s rankings of the top nine quarterbacks available.
According to 33rd Team, Cousins, who has been with the Vikings since 2018, is “as consistent as it comes, posting a passer rating of 101.2” during his time in Minnesota. While its rankings noted Cousins’ age and Achilles injury as potential drawbacks, the 33rd Team stated that they will not deter teams from spending big money on him in free agency.
Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has stated that the team would like to re-sign Cousins, but nothing is set in stone. Cousins has expressed an interest in returning to Minnesota for another season, but was cryptic when asked if he would consider taking a hometown discount if the Vikings were unwilling to pay top dollar. It’s unclear what either side expects.
Cousins was having the best season of his career in 2023 when he suffered an Achilles tear. He threw for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and only five interceptions in eight games.
Cousins’ career stats include 39,471 yards, 270 touchdowns, and 110 interceptions.
Baker Mayfield, who led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a playoff win this season, is ranked second; Gardner Minshew is third; Sam Darnold is fourth; Ryan Tannehill is fifth; Jacoby Brissett is sixth; Jameis Winston is seventh; Tyler Huntley is eighth; and Tyrod Taylor is ninth.
Cousins was unquestionably the “crown jewel” of her class.
