Breaking News: Houston Texans Confirm The Departure Another Man

Browns appoint Jacques Cesaire of the Texans as their defensive line coach
In the 2024 off-season, the Cleveland Browns added Jacques Cesaire from the Texans to coach the defensive line, marking their first defensive staff addition.
The defensive staff that helped elevate the Cleveland Browns’ defense to the top of the NFL is getting its first real overhaul.

It was revealed today that Jacques Cesaire, the defensive line coach for the Houston Texans, will be joining Cleveland.

It was strange to watch the Browns evaluating candidates for defensive line coach because there was no official word that current coach Ben Bloom was fired. All indications suggest that Bloom has been moved to a different position inside the company.Cesaire brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to Cleveland. He played defensive end for the San Diego Chargers for nine seasons in the NFL, from 2003 to 2011. With 275 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles in 125 games, including 66 starts, he was quite active. After his time as an undrafted free agent at Southern Connecticut State, he had an incredible run with the team.

From 2015 until 2019, he served as the defensive line coach at San Diego University, where he began his collegiate coaching career. After that, he got his first chance to coach in the NFL, joining the Bills in 2020 and 2021 as an assistant defensive line coach.

Before the 2022 season, Cesaire became a member of head coach Lovie Smith’s staff of the Texans and had an immediate impact. Despite having little talent, he guided the team to 11 multi-sack games during the season, which helped them have an unexpected season. With more potential, including first-round selection Will Anderson, he repeated the feat in 2023. He was able to assist Anderson in having one of the NFL’s best EDGE rookie seasons, and a healthy Jonathan Greenard recorded a career-high 12.5 sacks.

All things considered, Cesaire’s Texans team made the most of their skill and was instrumental in a defensive revolution in 2022–2023.

Cesaire’s carryover from one staff member to another is probably why the Texans decided to let him go and take a new position elsewhere. He continued to serve as a member of Smith’s staff under Demeco Ryans. Ryans might now choose to appoint one of his more intimate coaching ties.

The Browns gain a boost at the position on their staff as well as the chance to work with an already outstanding defensive line group under Jim Schwartz, who expects perfection from the group, to accomplish more in 2024.

Bloom is probably still involved, but we’ll have to wait for the team to make an official announcement before confirming his continued position with the company.
