Georgia’s three-week quarterback recruiting and evaluation process is in its second week.
Last week, the Bulldogs hosted Findlay (Ohio) Ryan Montgomery, who discussed the visit with Dawgs247 earlier this week. Julian Lewis, a reclassified quarterback, will arrive on school next weekend.
This weekend will be dedicated to Matt Zollers of Spring Ford in Royersford, Pennsylvania. Zollers received an offer from the Bulldogs last week when Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo visited to watch him play basketball. The movie above is dedicated to his football footage, but you can also view his excellent basketball highlight films here. This month, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback has sparked strong attention from the SEC. He will visit three programs this week: South Florida, Florida, and Georgia on Saturday.
The Bulldogs will have an opportunity to make a move. Watch his junior season highlight reel above.
“I would say right now, in the process, there is no-one really above anyone else,” Zollers told 247Sports’ Blake Alderman. I’m in basketball right now, so I’m not completely focused on this. Once basketball was ended, I planned to spend about a month or month and a half doing trips and attempting to narrow things down.”
He indicated “probably April” is his optimum time frame for making a college pick.
Zollers completed 182 of 290 passes (62.8%) as a junior. That accuracy enabled him toss for a school-record 2,917 yards with 37 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Zollers can use his legs efficiently, as demonstrated in the video above. He rushed for 420 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per carry as a rusher.
