LATEST NEWS: Georgia distinct player will break another record

Georgia brought in the nation’s top recruiting class in December, but convincing Carson Beck to return for his senior season was Kirby Smart’s best recruiting effort this offseason.

Beck threw for 3,941 yards in 14 games and was the most efficient quarterback in Georgia history. Georgia’s schedule, which includes travels to Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss, is as tough as any in the country, and having a senior signal-caller was critical.

With at least 12 more games under center for Georgia, and maybe as many as 17, Beck could get to the top of Georgia’s record books. Here are some of the marks that are within reach.

Top 5 in career passing yards.
No one has surpassed Aaron Murray’s 13,166 career passing yards, which remain the SEC record, but Beck could easily crack the top five. Beck averaged 303 yards per game in 2023. If he can duplicate that total in 12 regular-season games and one bowl game in 2024, he will overtake Jake Fromm (8,224) for fifth. Stetson Bennett’s fourth-place score of 8,429 isn’t far off.

Beck was extremely efficient this past season. His 9.6 yards per attempt ranked sixth in the nation. Beck’s career passer rating is 166.9. That only trails JT Daniels (168.1) for the Georgia quarterback record. Beck can take the lead if he finds the endzone more often.

Career Completion Percentage
Daniels presently ranks second only to Carson Beck in career completion %. Beck has an impressive career average of 71.2, while Daniels concluded his tenure in Athens at 69.5. With a strong receiving core returning, Beck has a good chance of staying at the top.
