LATEST NEWS: The Wild have just acquired this prominent player

Looking for blue line depth in the NHL and AHL, the Wild claimed Declan Chisholm off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

Chisholm, 24, has a plus-2 rating and one assist in four NHL games, two this season and two last season with Winnipeg. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Bowmanville, Ontario, has missed 24 games this season due to a lower body injury. He has 16 goals and 91 points in 146 career AHL games for Manitoba.

The Wild learned this month that veteran blue liner Jared Spurgeon will be out for the remainder of the season. The team captain is set for hip surgery on February 6 and back surgery about four weeks later. The Wild acquired veteran defenseman Will Butcher from Pittsburgh in a minor league trade last week.

Minnesota is off this week for the NHL All-Star Game break and will not play again until February 7 in Chicago.
