Coming into the 2023-24 season with a plethora of young talent and motivation to change the narrative, the Buffalo Sabres are once again on the outside looking in, with a 22-23-4 record and 48 points, sixth in the Atlantic Division and nine points behind the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The news became worse on Monday when it was reported that Sabres forward Jack Quinn had surgery for a lower-body ailment and is expected to miss about eight weeks.
Quinn, who was drafted eighth overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, missed the first 32 games of the season after undergoing achilles surgery in June, but he made an early impact, scoring goals and 12 assists for 17 points.

When you examine where this Sabres team is, where the young players are, and who has had a strong season, including Quinn and JJ Peterka, you wonder when we’ll see the real Sabres. It’s been one disappointment after another in Buffalo.
