Prior to the 2023–24 NHL season, the Minnesota Wild acquired veteran forward Pat Maroon in a trade. Although Minnesota couldn’t afford to make bold moves, Maroon was a good addition. The seasoned forward has three Stanley Cup rings, which gives him great knowledge, and he is dependable on the bottom six. He might therefore be a strong contender to be traded at the NHL Trade Deadline.

Maroon isn’t the league’s most prolific scorer. Having said that, he has already eclipsed his season-long point total. In 80 games during the 2022–2023 NHL season, the 35-year-old scored just 14 points; this year, he has four goals and 16 points.

A club aiming to make a deep run in the playoffs may challenge Maroon. But which teams precisely meet that description? Here are Pat Maroon’s three possible destinations for the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.

The Bruins might call.
In the Atlantic Division, the Boston Bruins are the team to beat. And after a historic 65-win season the year before, they are hoping to bounce back from that heartbreaking early playoff elimination. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Boston discusses Pat Maroon with the Wild.

Boston has always coveted those players who can fill the role of the rough bottom-six forward who could chip in offense here and there. Maroon has filled this role in the past, and he can do it again with the Bruins. He won’t be asked to play a major role, but he can chip in when needed.

All things considered, Pat Maroon has developed into a bit of a lucky charm in recent times. Stanley Cups usually follow him wherever he goes. Maybe the Bruins can be the squad that assists the seasoned forward in taking home the NHL’s top award for a record-breaking fourth time.

Oilers might go into further detail.
Would you like a little bit of familiarity? Maroon played for the Edmonton Oilers from 2015 to 2018, therefore he is familiar with the organization. With 16 straight victories going into the All-Star Break, Edmonton is quite the run. At the NHL Trade Deadline, Edmonton and the forward from the Wild might be reunited.

The Oilers have already added some veteran depth this year. They signed Corey Perry after Perry was reinstated to the NHL. Perry, 38, has only played a game with Edmonton. However, his arrival shows that Edmonton is serious about bringing in experienced voices.

Maroon can impart a plethora of knowledge. As previously stated, he has three Stanley Cup victories under his belt; the most recent one occurred in 2021. Pat Maroon is one of the people who can impart expertise to assist Edmonton take that figurative next step.

A reunion with Lightning?
Regarding those Stanley Cups, how about we get together again? Maroon was moved by the Lightning to the Wild during the offseason. They might, however, make one or two trades at the NHL Trade Deadline in an effort to maintain their position in the Atlantic Division playoff battle. Meeting up with someone you know again is very possible.

Out of his three Stanley Cups, Maroon won two while playing for the Lightning. The native of St. Louis also demonstrated that he gets along well with Tampa’s front group. He is not too far removed from leading the Bolts in goals scored in 2021–2022.

Should Maroon return to Tampa, will he unleash an incredible offensive frenzy? That seems improbable. Whatever the case, Pat Maroon is someone the Lightning are aware of. Furthermore, it wouldn’t be shocking if the 35-year-old rejoins the team at the NHL Trade Deadline.
