Mark Sears of Alabama, one of the greatest scorers in the country, led his team to the conference title at the halfway point of the season, but he was not added to the watch list for the Bob Cousy Award, which is presented annually to the best point guard in the nation.
With more than twenty points scored each game, Sears, an Ohio Bobcat who transferred to Alabama in 2022, leads the Crimson Tide in scoring. In addition, with 1.7 steals and 4.0 assists per game, the senior leads the squad in both categories.
It is surprising that he isn’t even listed among the best point guards in the nation considering that he is among the top-30 scorers in the country and has been one of the SEC’s most reliable players this season.
The native of Muscle Shoals has contributed to the Crimson Tide’s 7-1 start in SEC play and has just once finished with fewer than twenty points in a conference game.
As the regular season comes to an end, Mississippi State presents a chance for the Crimson Tide to further cement its hold on the SEC.
