LATEST NEWS: Baltimore must resign this prominent player before

The Baltimore Orioles’ recent few weeks have been extremely thrilling. The choice to acquire ace Corbin Burnes has made the already promising future much more promising.

It was just what this young team needed, another experienced arm. Though Burnes was added, the Orioles did lose a veteran last week. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Aaron Hicks signed with the Los Angeles Angels, but Baltimore was interested in re-signing him.

According to Nightengale, the New York Yankees still owe him $8.76 million this season; the Angels will pay him the league minimum.

It is hardly the end of the world if Hicks is lost in free agency. He spent eight years with the Yankees, but in 65 games during the 2023 season, he performed admirably for the Orioles. The outfielder who switched hits slashed.seven home runs at 275/.381/.425.

Hicks was by no means a star, but he was one of the top outfielders in baseball at one point in his career. He played center field above average and produced at the plate for New York. The 2018 season was his best, as he slashed.248/.366/.467 and blasted 27 home runs.

Yankees fans turned on him and in return, he was one of the worst players in baseball for a few seasons. Baltimore fans did not treat him in similar ways and he produced at a higher level.

The hope for Los Angeles is that he can find a way to return to half of what he was in 2018. If that does end up happening, this was a smart signing.
