Wild’s are happy as he terminated the contract reviewed this morning.

Former Wild forward was placed on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination by the New York Rangers today.

It was revealed today that forward Nick Bonino has been placed on unconditional waivers for contract termination.

Bonino, 35, has appeared in 45 games for the Rangers this season, scoring one goal and contributing five points. Over the course of 15 seasons, the seasoned NHL veteran has represented seven different clubs, including the Wild.

The Wild acquired Bonino before to the 2020-21 season in exchange for Luke Kunin and a fourth-round pick (101) in the 2020 NHL Draft.

That 2020 second-round pick developed into Marat Khusnutdinov, who has quickly risen through the Wild’s prospect pool and appears to be on his way to Minnesota after his season in the KHL ends.

The 2020 third-round pick was later transferred to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a 2020 third-round pick (65th) and a 2020 fifth-round pick (132nd), giving the Wild the 65th pick in the 2020 draft, which they used to choose defender Daemon Hunt.

Bonino appeared in 55 games for the Wild during the 2020-21 season, scoring ten goals and 26 points while delivering excellent defensive play in the Wild’s bottom six.

Bonino has appeared in a total of 868 games. He has 159 goals, 358 points, and two Stanley Cup championships, all with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
