The new-look Tar Heel offence was on display in just three baskets during the UNC men’s basketball team’s first open scrimmage against St. Augustine’s.
The offence, which ranked 13th in the ACC in terms of team field goal percentage, scored its first three points in the first minute and forty-two seconds of the game, indicating the kind of progress it intends to make in 2023.

Harrison Ingram, a junior forward, stated that Hubert Davis promotes the “0.5 mentality” in basketball, which urges players to act on the ball within 30 seconds of grabbing it. The goal of this is for the Tar Heels to return to the “old Carolina” and move the ball as a cohesive team.
“We were able to always get the next guy, the next great shot,” said RJ Davis. We’ve always placed a strong focus on it, and today we just moved the ball and made excellent to outstanding shots.”
