The prospective UNC basketball big man is asking supporters to help him persuade his teammate to join him as a Tar Heel.
In January 2023, James Brown, ranked No. 71 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, confirmed his commitment to UNC basketball. Over a year later, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound four-star is hoping to persuade one of his five-star Link Academy (Mo.) classmates, sharpshooting guard Jasper Johnson, to do the same.

On Friday, Brown shared a photo of himself wearing Tar Heel attire and standing next to Johnson, who ranks 12th among his 2025 peers but hasn’t ruled out a reclassification to 2024. Brown tagged Johnson in the post and asked his followers to “like” it.:

Jasper Johnson, a lifetime UNC basketball fan who grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, just returned from an official visit to Chapel Hill. He was in attendance, along with a fellow five-star 2025 target, Holy Innocents Episcopal (Ga.) forward Caleb Wilson, to watch the No. 3 Tar Heels overcome their archival opponent, now-No. 9 Duke.
