Report: The Iowa star player is been suspended from all sports for placing a bet against

Kyler Gerardy believed he had his future all figured out. One of the best FCS programs in the nation, North Dakota State, is where he committed to play collegiate football.

But things have a tendency of upending us in life. When Iowa offered the top North Scott high school student from Eldridge, Iowa, a chance to walk on, that is what happened.

“After getting a walk-on opportunity from my dream school, I knew I had to take it,” Gerardy stated. On December 1, he turned around his verbal commitment to NDSU from June and accepted the Hawkeye offer.

“Betting on oneself is taking the walk-on position. However, walk-ons have a track record of success at Iowa, so it seemed like the right choice,” he remarked.

Gerardy (6-0, 185), who finished his career with first-team all-state honors, was a productive player for the Lancers. The dual-threat quarterback completed 1,380 yards of passing with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions in his senior year of play. For 843 yards and 13 touchdowns, he ran. Gerardy’s athleticism is evident when viewing his junior highlights. It’s not difficult to see him lining up at other positions than quarterback.

Gerardy was brought in by Iowa as a safety. He participated in defensive play at North Scott, recording 12 solo tackles and one interception in the previous season.

“Being a high school quarterback then switching over and playing safety is something that multiple people have done at Iowa,” he stated. Quinn Schulte, the current Hawkeye starting free safety, followed that course after signaling for Cedar Rapids, Iowa’s Xavier. Sebastian Castro, Oaklawn (IL) Richards High’s starting cash, was also suited for quarterback.

Schulte is one of many walk-ons who throughout the years have succeeded in earning a scholarship and a starting spot in the Iowa secondary.

“I’m aware that I’ll need to work really hard both on and off the field going in. Ready to carry that out? To go on the field and support the squad, I’m just going to do everything in my power, Gerardy declared.
