DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Michael Rasmussen to a four-year, $12.8 million contract deal.

The Red Wings, who have not made the playoffs since the 2015-16 season, announced the contract on Tuesday.

Rasmussen, 24, has played 55 games this season, scoring 11 goals and adding 12 assists. He has a plus eleven rating. He has scored double-digit goals in each of the previous three seasons. Rasmussen posted career highs in assists (19) and points (29) while playing 56 games for the Red Wings last season.

Rasmussen, the ninth overall choice in the 2017 NHL draft, has 47 goals, 62 assists, and 197 penalty minutes in 293 games with Detroit since making his NHL debut at the age of 19 in 2018-19. He also spent parts of three seasons with the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Gryphons from 2018 to 21. The Canadian played in Austria during the epidemic.

Rasmussen played for the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League for portions of four seasons before going professional.
