Tigers Key Player Quit Due To Injury Status

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that Clemson Tigers running back Will Shipley will miss Saturday’s game against Notre Dame due to a head injury.

Shipley was placed in the concussion protocol following a collision in Clemson’s defeat to NC State last weekend. He did not recover sufficiently to play this week’s game.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said Shipley was day-to-day this week and that the team’s doctors will decide if he was fit to play again.

Shipley is the team’s leading rusher this season, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt and totaling 515 yards and five touchdowns.

In his career, Shipley has rushed for 2,436 total yards. He also has 20 receptions for 120 yards this season.

Clemson is at 4-4 on the season and hopes to avoid a three-game losing skid against the Fighting Irish.

According to SI Sportsbook, Notre Dame is a 3.5-point favourite versus Clemson and comes into the game with a top-10 scoring defence.
