The 49ers will enter the 2019 NFL season with a little more financial wiggle room than planned.

The 2024 wage cap has been set at $255.4 million per team, representing a more than $30 million increase and the biggest since the cap was instituted in 1994.

Despite having one of the NFL’s largest payrolls, the 49ers are anticipated to be slightly more than $4.6 million under the cap due to current active contracts.

Decide how to spend their money. They can also convert some of their most costly players’ salary into signing bonuses to manipulate their cap room, as they have in the past.

Aiyuk technically is under contract through 2024, but like Nick Bosa last season and Deebo Samuel the year prior, the wide receiver likely will not step foot on the 49ers’ practice field until an extension has been signed.
