Tyler Buchner joined the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as a four-star recruit in the 2021 class. He played 13 games with the Fighting Irish, throwing for 949 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Buchner completed 56.8% of his throws while rushing for 459 yards and seven touchdowns on 82 attempts.
He joined the Alabama Crimson Tide via the transfer portal for the 2023 season. Buchner played in two games and completed only eight of 19 passes for 61 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He rushed for 20 yards and one touchdown on three carries. Buchner revealed his decision to enter the transfer portal on December 4th.
