The South Sydney Rabbitohs have extended club captain Cameron Murray’s contract.

Cameron Murray secures a contract extension with South Sydney Rabbitohs.

On Monday afternoon, the Rabbitohs announced that skipper Murray had signed a new contract.

With two years left on his contract, there was little conjecture about the NSW and Australian representative’s future (apart from rugby union rumours), but South Sydney has taken proactive steps to secure his future with the club.

Murray has played all 146 NRL games for the Cardinal and Myrtle since making his first grade debut in 2017.

His new contract will keep him with the Rabbitohs until he is thirty years old.

“This club has always been home to me and I never saw myself playing anywhere else,” Murray told the media.

“Extending my contract here was a no-brainer for me, and I’m happy for the opportunity to represent South Sydney, our members, and supporters every day.

“The club has always taken care of me, and I believe I have always done my best to prioritise the club’s best interests in all I do.

“I’m extremely grateful to the club for putting its trust in me to be a part of the next five years.

“It is now my obligation to repay that faith with my performance on the pitch and my actions off the pitch.

“It is an absolute honour to captain this club, to play alongside my teammates and to work with my coaches and the staff at the club.”
