Breaking News: Chicago Top Star Confirms He Wants To Return

Even with Cody Bellinger’s re-signing, the Chicago Cubs might still want lineup support.

There’s a chance that the Cubs’ lineup from last season will not be as strong as it was, but they might still have a stronger season at bat than they did.

After one of his best seasons, Bellinger is back, but Jeimer Candelario’s departure in free agency still needs to be addressed.

J.D. Davis, a corner infielder for the San Francisco Giants, is one name that would make sense for Chicago.

According to Mark Polishuk of MLB Trade Rumors, “that upside could make Davis an attractive target for a team lacking in certainty at the infield corners, such as the Cubs.”

In trade worth, he shouldn’t command a high price.

In the two seasons that he has participated in more than 140 games, he has hit at least 18 home runs. With his bat, Davis can provide the Cubs with some lineup versatility. He can contribute right away as the Cubs break in young Michael Busch as a corner baseman.

Offseason questions for the Cubs

Although Bellinger’s return strengthens the lineup, pitcher Shota Imanaga was the Cubs’ only other significant acquisition. The Cubs’ offseason has not gone as planned when you add a number of minor-league transactions and a few small trades to that.
