Bulldogs star slapped with fine as NFL announce punishment

In response to an alleged racist slur directed towards Broncos five-eighth Ezra Mam during Sunday’s season opener in Las Vegas, Roosters forward Spencer Leniu has been referred to the NRL Judiciary.

Referee Adam Gee placed Leniu under investigation following Mam’s accusation against Leniu during the 69th minute of the match at Allegiant Stadium.

Afterwards, Leniu was accused of engaging in contrary behavior.

In the 46th minute of that game, Broncos fullback Reece Walsh took a shot at Roosters winger Daniel Tupou, earning him a Grade 1 Shoulder Charge.

Walsh, should he contest the case and be found guilty at panel, will be subject to a two-game suspension in addition to a $3000 fine for entering an early guilty plea.

After the Round 1 games in Las Vegas, Sea Eagle Nathan Brown (Careless High Tackle) and Rabbitoh Jai Arrow (Crusher Tackle) were the two players charged.

If Arrow enters an early guilty plea, he will be penalized $1000, while Brown would be fined $1800.

Star winger Maika Sivo was suspended for a Grade 2 Careless High Tackle during the Pre-Season Challenge, thus he will miss the Eels’ first three games.

Following his hit on Titans center AJ Brimson last Sunday, Sivo made a guilty plea for the third and subsequent offense of that kind and agreed to a three-game suspension.
