Smith resorted to social media to express his “utter disgust” with the University of Florida’s decision to dissolve its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department and remove the 13 staff members who previously comprised the department, as reported by Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun.

“We cannot continue to believe and trust that a team of leaders all made up of the same background will make the right decision when it comes to equality and diversity,” Smith stated. “History has already proven that is not the case.”
