This spring, Caleb Kilian has been in the background of the race for the Chicago Cubs starting fifth place.
Although Kilian has looked good in his Spring Training appearances, the former top pitching prospect’s performance swiftly turned into cause for concern as he was pulled from Wednesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals in the third inning.
Kilian gave up a leadoff hit to Royals center fielder Drew Waters in the third inning, ending his two scoreless innings before being lifted from the game.
Cubs manager Craig Counsell gave a less than positive update on Wednesday.
