Winger Jordan Eberle of the Seattle Krakens has only appeared in five postseason games in his 14 NHL seasons. That’s not a lot for a league that lets half of its players make the playoffs.

Not that Jordan was at blame. He was called up to the Oilers in 2010 following his 2008 first-round draft selection by Edmonton. However, the Oil wouldn’t qualify for the postseason until 2017.Eberle’s most recent playoff run came last year with the Kraken, including an overtime game-winner in Game 4 against the Colorado Avalanche which almost blew the roof off Climate Pledge Arena. After a two-year, $9.5 million contract extension was reached on Friday between Eberle and Seattle General Manager Ron Francis, why didn’t Eberle make a bigger effort to be sent to a contender at the trade deadline, given that he will turn 34 on May 15 and is getting closer to the end of his career rather than the beginning?

For three factors.

Family Appreciates Seattle
“We’ve integrated ourselves into the Seattle community and we like living here,” Eberle said at a press conference following the signing.

He continued, “My wife loves it here, and I love it here,” in a radio interview with KJR-FM. We adore the atmosphere that Seattle offers.

“I believe the burden of deciphering details typically falls on the significant others. Lauren Rodych-Eberle, my wife, has handled everything like a pro. Our two children never know what to anticipate. Thus, those are the individuals that suffer the most.”

“As far as figuring out what’s happening (during negotiations), all you can do is put your head down and play.”
