The NHL said on Tuesday that Matt Rempe, a forward for the New York Rangers, has been punished for four games for elbowing defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler of the New Jersey Devils during Monday night’s game, which New York won 3-1.

Late in the second quarter, Rempe elbowed Siegenthaler in the jaw, causing him to lose consciousness. Rempe also received a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct.

Kurtis MacDermid, a forward for the Devils, was also given a 10-minute misconduct for trying to tackle Rempe.
