Positive updates about the Iowa women’s basketball program kept coming in. On Tuesday, the Hawkeyes learned of a significant addition.

One of the best players in the 2025 recruiting class, guard Addie Deal of California, declared her verbal commitment. She rose to become the highest-rated Iowa recruit since Caitlin Clark (No. 4, ’20), placing No. 12 in the HoopGurlz national rankings.

On Sunday, the Hawkeyes captured their third consecutive Big Ten Tournament Championship. Clark won MVP for the third consecutive season. She is expected to be the first choice in next month’s WNBA Draft.

On March 3, Deal attended Iowa’s last regular-season game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Watching Clark overtake Pete Maravich to take the top spot on the NCAA scoring record, she was thrilled.

Watching Deal’s video highlights reveals characteristics that she and Clark have in common. She can shoot long distances and passes the ball deftly.

Scholarship offers from LSU, Ohio State, Indiana, USC, UCLA, and other universities were also disclosed by the Santa Ana Mater Dei junior. In October, she went to LSU, the national champion.
