“I had a good conversation with Coach (Dabo) Swinney, then talked with my dad and prayed about it for a couple of days,” said Mickens, who was initially considering entering the 2024 NFL Draft. “It certainly took some time, but once I decided what I was going to do, it just felt right.
Mickens is more thrilled than ever about what the future holds for Clemson’s 2024 team, as he enters his final spring workouts.
“I just felt like my freshman year, when we made the playoffs, I didn’t really contribute,” Mickens, a graduate student from Southlake, Texas, explained. “I always wanted to play in the playoffs and reach the top of the mountain.
“I believe we had the team to do so; we just didn’t finish it last year. We’ve gotten a lot of the key components back, and getting there has always been a big ambition of mine, so that played a role. I believe I can still
