John Khoury is expected to be removed as Bulldogs chairman during the club’s annual board meeting on the eve of the 2024 NRL season.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Khoury, who has led the Canterbury-Bankstown club since 2020, will be removed from his position during a meeting on Sunday.
Khoury is apparently poised to step down on Sunday, and there is no hostility between the present chairman and the man who will succeed him.
Adam Driussi, a board member and co-founder of billion-dollar company Quantium, is apparently in position to take over the role, as he has a tight relationship with Phil Gould and CEO Aaron Warburton.
Gould has reportedly spoken with Khoury, who will apparently announce the adjustments on Sunday.
“I am extremely proud of my accomplishments as chair in all aspects of the club, and I have always believed in succession planning. “We have a succession plan in place and are fully committed to seeing it through,” Khoury told SMH.
“What everyone should understand is that this is a consensus decision. I intend to continue serving as a dual director of both football and league teams, of which I am extremely proud.
“It’s disappointing to see news emerge ahead of the AGM and my scheduled update. I remain as supportive of the Bulldogs as ever, and I will make my declaration as planned on Sunday.
”
Khoury was reportedly the person who hired Gould to oversee the club’s footballing operations and also Warburton.
Driussi was also brought onto the club’s board by Khoury and is reportedly now set to take his job and replace him
