The Baltimore Ravens experienced another injury-riddled season at running back in 2023, and as a result, the position could look significantly different for the team the following year.

Gus Edwards fared excellently after taking over for J.K. Dobbins, who suffered a ruptured Achilles in Week 1, and Keaton Mitchell also played well before being lost for the season. The team finished the season with Edwards, Justice Hill, and Dalvin Cook, who was signed mid-season after spending part of camp with the team.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh discussed the present running back position and what might happen in free agency as the next season approaches.

“I am delighted we have Justice [Hill] on a two-year agreement. Last year, [vice president of football administration] Nick [Matteo] was able to negotiate a two-year contract with Justice, and Justice was truly one of the team’s unsung heroes this year, down the stretch,” Harbaugh stated. “I mean, the man had a great season.

“Obviously, we have some free agents, and it was a problem this year with J.K. [Dobbins’] injury, which was sad and terrible for us, as well as Keaton [Mitchell]. We will examine the market, speak with the relevant parties, and try to… We’ll see where things stand with Gus [Edwards] and J.K., both of whom I respect and who have been terrific players for us over the last three or four years.
