Ann Arbour, Michigan. —Michigan Wolverines football senior running back Donovan Edwards and junior defensive tackle Mason Graham spoke with the media after a spring session on Monday afternoon. Watch video of Edwards in the clip at the top of the page, and Graham in the embed below.

Edwards, who claims to have gained 14 pounds, explained how his offseason knee surgery from last season held him back. He missed Michigan’s spring practices but is participating this time around and feels fine.

“I believe that missing out on last year’s spring ball pushed me back greatly. Spring ball focuses on developing confidence and understanding the game.

“After having knee surgery, I didn’t start training again until August, and I was still dealing with other difficulties in my body that I’m still working with now. I feel wonderful right now. I feel like my cuts are improving, and I’m playing better. The speed is back, and it’s where it should be. And I gained 14 more pounds. Being able to stay healthy all year and participate in spring ball right now has just increased my confidence.”

Edwards remarked on how past season humbled him. As a Michigan junior, he averaged slightly more than 4 yards per carry, which increased to more than 7 yards per carry by the
