Since the Dallas Cowboys selected Micah Parsons in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State, he has established himself as one of the top defensive players in the league.
The pass rusher is a two-time NFL All-Pro who has qualified for a Pro Bowl each season that he has played in Big D. Parsons seemed to have no limits on the field at just 24 years old.
It’s a somewhat different question off the field. Parsons’ social media presence and his readiness to criticize the Cowboys brass have been problematic, to put it mildly.
The still-young defense may have more issues with his antics as the winter goes on because he is now available for an extension for the first time in his career.
Is there something happening in contract talks we don’t know about behind the scenes? Are Cowboys officials not happy about Parsons’ social media activity? We’re not too sure. What we do know is that Shan Shariff of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas provided an alarming report on Friday.
“I’ve heard from way too many people this offseason. I’m talking about at least four different people (have told me) that Micah has worn thin there. I don’t know how much is true and how much it actually hurts (his reputation).
I don’t know whether this is the behavior of a typical superstar. I don’t how damaging it is. But all I do know is this – I’ve heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief.”
Report on potential Micah Parsons drama with the Dallas Cowboys
That’s not what you want to hear about a franchise cornerstone and potentially the best player on your roster. There were also previous issues relating to Parsons potentially not wanting to play multiple positions like he has in the past.
For his part, Parsons stated that he doesn’t want to play elsewhere after Dallas’ season ended early in the playoffs once more.
It will be interesting to follow this story as it develops over the next days, weeks, and months. In Texas, everything is larger. Parsons and the “Boys” drama could result from that.
