The Kansas City Chiefs, a Super Bowl contender and past winners, could sign $72 million free agent Michael Thomas in the offseason. The Chiefs are being persuaded to sign the former Pro Bowl player prior to this month’s NFL Draft, a source has said. Kansas City still has time to get a cheap receiver in free agency to cover a void. Since Drew Brees, Thomas hasn’t been partnered with a strong quarterback, so it makes logical that the suspicions are starting to spread in the first place.
After Tom Brady’s retirement, Patrick Mahomes is by far the finest quarterback in the NFL at the moment. If Thomas were to start with Mahomes in the upcoming season, it would be beneficial for his career. Thomas wouldn’t become a Mahomes star.
When Brees was behind center, Thomas was a formidable presence, but in recent years, his stats have drastically decreased. But over time, his history of ailments and issues with the Saints staff caused him to gradually become the receiver that everyone should forget. Thomas had two All-Pro selections and four seasons in a row of 1,000 yards to start his career. With 149 catches and 1,725 receiving yards in 2019, he had his greatest season yet.
