Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson suspended redshirt junior quarterback Kendall Hinton and redshirt sophomore Thomas Cole for three games on Thursday afternoon due to a “violation of team rules.”
Both players will be available to practice and participate in fall camp, but they will not be permitted to play until the Deacs meet Notre Dame on September 22.
Benson choose Wake over offers from App State, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Kansas, Liberty, and Memphis, among others. According to Maxpreps, Benson had 66 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception during his junior season. From his tape, he appears to be an explosive athlete at linebacker who is ready to drop in coverage and send off the edge to the backfield. Following a great junior season, Benson was chosen to the 5A All-Region Team. Glenn Spencer was the leading candidate in this recruitment.
