West Indies skipper Shai Hope questioned his players’ mentality and preparedness on Saturday, following their unexpected withdrawal from the World Cup qualification battle in India. The two-time former title winners will not compete in the 50-over World Cup for the first time in 48 years, since the competition began in 1975. The Caribbean team was eliminated on Saturday after losing by seven wickets to Scotland in a Super Six encounter, in which they once again performed poorly with both the bat and the ball.
“To be honest, I’m not sure what it is. “We certainly let ourselves down in the tournament,” Hope told the BBC following West Indies’ unexpected elimination.
