Confirmed: Rangers are bringing him back

The National Hockey League has one of the most deliciously chaotic postseasons in professional sports. It’s the sort of topsy-turvy place where a team can win the most games in regular-season history—and then get bounced in the first round of the playoffs. (Just ask the Boston Bruins. And the Tampa Bay Lightning.)

One reason that this time of year is so reliably cuckoo is that hockey adopts different rules for overtime in the playoffs than it does in the regular season. And as this year’s postseason begins Saturday, that might not bode so well for the team that tallied more regular-season wins this season than anyone else.
