The “if” is a significant one. So is the likelihood that the club MVP will “go from there” as a free agent in 2025.
Prescott has one year remaining on his current contract, which is a four-year, $160 million agreement inked in 2021. In early March, he claimed that he was “definitely confident” that he and the Cowboys would be able to reach an extension, as had always been the intention… in part to massage down what is now an apparently “unsustainable” $55 million cap charge for 2024.
However, the Cowboys are clearly reconsidering all of this, with team owner Jones implying that talks have been delayed, maybe for the remainder of the season.
