The Los Angeles Lakers led the Denver Nuggets by 20 points in the second half but were unable to finish out the defending NBA champions, losing 101-99 on the road in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.
One day later, Lakers star LeBron James emphasized the significance of finishing games, pointing out how L.A. failed to do so in this case.
“It’s all about sustainability,” James explained to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
“It does not matter what you can do throughout the first 47½ minutes. You had the option of closing the game, which we did not do. We’ve got to get better at it. But some of the things we’ve done in the first few games have left us quite excited and happy.
