“Above all, I want to thank OG…Coach Meat for instilling confidence in me day in and day out,” Martin stated in his farewell message. “The time I spent being taught by you was invaluable; thank you for shaping me into the player and person I am today. Last but not least, thank you, Lord, for shaping me through all the good and problems that life presents. With that said, I’ve decided to put my name in the transfer portal.”
Martin played more snaps than any other true freshman defensive back this season, appearing in all 14 games. He ended the season with 21 total tackles, one interception, and one pass breakup.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back spent the year playing cornerback, nickel, and safety for the Ducks, with the most of his playing time coming against Arizona State and the Pac-12 Championship against the Washington Huskies when Oregon’s cornerback depth was strained by injuries.
