Harry Clarke, defender for Ipswich Town, underwent surgery on both of his Achilles tendons in an attempt to be fully recovered for the start of the upcoming season.
The Tractor Boys were promoted to the Premier League automatically, and the 23-year-old made 39 appearances.
However, he did not play in the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town that completed their 22-year hiatus from the top flight.
He wrote on X, the former Twitter platform, “As the people closest to me know, I’ve struggled with some pretty bad Achilles issues the last two seasons.”
“Road to recovery and to the Premier League starts now.”
